INTERNATIONAL SERVICE - SHELTERBOX & POLIO PLUS
Our commitment to helping people doesn't stop at the city limits. As part of the worldwide Rotary network, we support ShelterBox, which delivers emergency shelter and essential aid to families displaced by disaster and conflict around the world.
We also contribute to Polio Plus, Rotary International's flagship campaign to eradicate polio worldwide — a program that has been running since 1979 and has brought the world to the brink of eliminating the disease entirely.
ShelterBox Australia is the local arm of ShelterBox International, a disaster relief charity providing emergency shelter and aid to families who've lost their homes to disaster or conflict.
It's currently responding to earthquakes, alongside crises in Sudan, Gaza, Afghanistan, and Somalia, and has helped over 2.5 million people worldwide since it began.
End Polio is Rotary International's global campaign to eradicate polio worldwide. Since 1988, the initiative has helped reduce polio cases by 99.9%, largely through funding vaccines, transport, and materials for immunisation efforts, alongside partners like the WHO, UNICEF, and the Gates Foundation.
Rotarians support the campaign through donations, volunteering for vaccination campaigns in at-risk countries, and raising awareness around World Polio Day each October.
