A Roof Over Our Heads: Whakatu Riding for Disabled

“Project Cover Up” began when WRDA sought greater operational certainty and ability to keep its riders, horses, and support crew safe and comfortable in rain and shine with a roof over their arena.

Faced with a $347,000 construction project, WRDA, on advice, turned to Rotary for help navigating the design, regulatory, and construction process. Rotary stepped in to lead the planning, proprietary design selection, contractor selection, and project management, while also contributing $10,000 of top up funding and more than 750 volunteer hours.

Through Rotary’s network, local support, and skilled contractors, significant savings were achieved. These savings funded additional works including facility upgrades, new decking, and extended roofing, ensuring clients are protected from the moment they arrive.
